Finding the right correlated color temperature (CCT)
All light is not equal! Wondering why that new kitchen counter doesn't look as nice as it did in the showroom? See the below comparison of how CCT effects the look of two different types of stone samples (white marble and granite):
From the image above you'll find that the white marble does not look as white and clean in the warmer color temperatures as it does in the cooler temperatures (higher CCT). At the same time, you will see that the granite begins to look washed out as CCT increases into the cooler temperatures.
So you didn't do a counter top remodel but got some floor work done, well we've got you covered there too. Below you'll find a comparison between four different wood samples:
Lighting is also important when you're putting your best face forward. Photographers and makeup artists can attest to the important role lighting can play. Take for example the images below of this hand model. You can instantly see the warmth of his skin tone to a washed out look as the color temperature increases into a whiter spectrum. Think of lighting as a filter for your living spaces that can enhance your space and decor.
